INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT

Luis Aranguren, MD is a fellowship-trained specialist in Interventional Pain Management with a focus on autoimmune-related pain, hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), and complex chronic pain. He also evaluates and treats spine-related pain, neuropathic pain, joint pain, and post-surgical pain, prioritizing restored function and day-to-day confidence.

He is drawn to complex, multisystem pain presentations, including hypermobility and EDS-related pain, lumbar and cervical radiculopathy (sciatica and neck-arm pain), facet-mediated back and neck pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, peripheral nerve pain, myofascial pain, and painful osteoarthritis and tendinopathies.

Treatment plans may include image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation, targeted medications, and movement-based rehabilitation, alongside practical lifestyle and nutrition guidance. Dr. Aranguren coordinates care with physical therapists and referring clinicians to deliver clear plans, measurable relief, and durable self-management.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Aranguren earned his medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, completed anesthesiology residency training at HCA/USF near Tampa, Florida, and an Interventional Pain Management fellowship at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and a member of the American Medical Association.
