Telemedicine & Second Opinion Consultation

Telemedicine and second opinion consultations allow patients outside New York, across the country, or anywhere in the world to receive diagnostic guidance from Manhattan Pain Medicine when specialized pain evaluation may not be available locally.

For Patients Outside New York

Telemedicine and second opinion consultations can be a helpful starting point for patients who are not in New York, including patients in other states or outside the United States. These visits allow our team to review your history, imaging, prior treatments, and symptom patterns remotely.

Second Opinions and Diagnostic Clarity

Patients often seek a second opinion when symptoms remain unexplained, prior treatments have not helped, or different clinicians have offered conflicting recommendations. Our role is to review the full picture, identify what may have been missed, and help clarify what may need to happen next.

A Diagnostic Bridge for Complex Pain

For patients who do not have access to a comprehensive pain team locally, a virtual consultation can help organize the clinical picture, review imaging and prior treatment history, and develop a multi-system diagnostic hypothesis. The goal is to clarify possible pain drivers and outline a stepwise plan.

Supporting Local Care When Appropriate

In some cases, the next step may be testing, imaging, treatment, or follow-up with a local provider. When appropriate, we can help clarify what to discuss with your local care team and how to think about the next step in the sequence.

Planning Before You Travel

For patients who may travel to New York for care, telemedicine can make an in-person visit more productive. By reviewing records and mapping the history in advance, the team can better determine what should be examined, tested, or prioritized during the visit.

When In-Person Care Is Needed

Complex pain often requires physical examination, diagnostic blocks, procedures, or stepwise treatment over time. If telemedicine is not enough to answer the clinical question, our team will help determine whether an in-person evaluation at Manhattan Pain Medicine is appropriate.

Understanding Insurance Before You Begin

Before care begins, our team helps patients understand the practical side of treatment, including insurance verification, out-of-network benefits, cost-share estimates, self-pay options, and billing questions. We believe patients should have as much clarity as possible before moving forward.

Pain Care That Starts With Understanding

When pain is complex, the first step should not be another generic treatment. Manhattan Pain Medicine looks deeper to understand what is driving the pain, why it has persisted, and what path forward makes sense for you.
