Free Monthly Support Group, Open to Everyone
Manhattan Pain Medicine’s Free Chronic Pain Support Group meets virtually on the last Wednesday of each month. The group is led by Deborah Barbiere, Psy.D., L.Ac., our pain psychologist, who helps guide each session with compassion, structure, and clinical insight.
Participants are invited to connect with others, share their experiences, and better understand the emotional and psychological impact of living with chronic pain. The group is free and open to everyone, whether or not you are currently a patient at Manhattan Pain Medicine.

A Space to Feel Understood
Chronic pain can affect every part of life, including identity, relationships, mood, and hope. This group offers a supportive environment where participants can speak openly, listen to others, and recognize that they are not alone in what they are experiencing.
Guided by Pain Psychology
The group is facilitated by Deborah Barbiere, Psy.D., L.Ac., who specializes in pain psychology. Sessions are designed to help participants process the emotional weight of chronic pain while building awareness, perspective, and a stronger sense of control.
Education, Coping Skills, and Connection
In addition to open discussion, the group may include education on pain processing, coping strategies, and special sessions with guest speakers. Past and proposed topics have included hypnotherapy for pain, yoga for pain, and evidence-based pain education programs such as Empowered Relief.
