Vasculitis
Vasculitis is not one single disease. It is a group of rare inflammatory blood vessel disorders that can affect arteries, veins, or capillaries anywhere in the body. When blood vessels become inflamed, the vessel wall may thicken, narrow, weaken, or become damaged. If blood flow is restricted, tissues and organs may not receive the oxygen and nutrients they need. How Vasculitis Is Diagnosed

A clinician may review symptoms, timing, flare pattern, medication exposure, infection history, autoimmune history, family history, physical examination, blood work, inflammatory markers, kidney function, urinalysis, imaging, and sometimes biopsy. Imaging may be used to assess blood vessels or organ involvement. Biopsy may help confirm inflammation in certain tissues when clinically appropriate.

The goal is often to control active inflammation, protect organs, reach remission when possible, and reduce relapse risk.
These medications can carry meaningful side effects, including infection risk, metabolic changes, bone effects, and other medication-specific concerns.
