About Dr. Jason W. Siefferman
Clinical Background
Dr. Siefferman is the Founder and Medical Director of Manhattan Pain Medicine. He is triple board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Headache Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College, completed internship at Rush University Medical Center, and went on to complete a research fellowship, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency, and Interventional Pain Management fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Academic & Leadership Experience
Dr. Siefferman serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the NYU School of Medicine, where he previously served as Site Director for the NYU Pain Medicine Fellowship. Before founding Manhattan Pain Medicine, he spent a decade directing Interventional Pain Management and building the Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Program at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System. He also holds attending privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital and serves as a peer reviewer for medical journals including Pain Medicine and Pain Reports.
Clinical Focus
Dr. Siefferman focuses on complex, overlapping, and multisystem pain presentations. His areas of expertise include hypermobility syndromes, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, headache and facial pain, pelvic pain, pudendal neuralgia, craniocervical instability, dysautonomia, POTS, mast cell activation syndrome, small fiber neuropathy, spine and nerve conditions, and complex chronic pain.
Care Philosophy
Dr. Siefferman leads a diagnosis-first, discovery-led approach to chronic pain. Rather than treating pain as a single symptom, he works to reverse-engineer the full clinical picture: what is generating the pain, how the body adapted around it, and why the condition has not resolved. His approach emphasizes education, shared decision-making, and helping patients understand their own bodies so they can participate more actively in care.
Procedural Expertise
As an interventional physiatrist, Dr. Siefferman uses procedures for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. His work includes highly targeted image-guided diagnostic nerve and joint blocks, regenerative medicine, prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow aspirate concentrate, radiofrequency ablation, epidural procedures, caudal epidurolysis of adhesions, sympathetic nerve blocks, neuromodulation, and minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fixation when appropriate.
Personal Perspective
Dr. Siefferman’s clinical approach is also shaped by personal experience with chronic pain and migraine. That perspective informs his commitment to careful listening, patient education, and building a care model that helps patients feel less lost inside the medical system.
Diagnosis-First Care for Complex Pain
Dr. Siefferman’s work centers on understanding the full pain process, not simply treating the most visible symptom. His goal is to help patients move from uncertainty toward a clearer diagnosis, a structured plan, and greater confidence in their own care.
